THE PROJECT
Red Bud Avenue
This Spanish Colonial Revival home was already transformed when I met the owner, but the finishes didn’t reflect the life she — and her teenage children — wanted to create there. We re-plastered the walls and ceiling, brightened the paint color, completed small but meaningful carpentry and electrical work throughout the lower level and brought in art and furniture that matched the colorfully elevated aesthetic they had in mind. The living room now functions comfortably for music playing, gaming, reading and movie-watching. The custom marble dining table holds buffets for large parties or more intimate dinner gatherings. The foyer is pared back while highlighting her art collection and the home’s architectural details.
”I chose this home because I was charmed by the Spanish colonial architecture, a very uncommon style in Cincinnati. I wanted it to feel easy, peaceful, and at the same time sophisticated and rich, with design pieces from many eras. I wanted the interiors to complement the architecture, but also offer something unexpected.”
